Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi sent shock waves through the world by inviting an anti-Semitic Muslim to deliver what amounts to a “death to Israel” speech before Congress.
The radical left-wing leadership of the Democratic Party has grown increasingly comfortable with anti-Semitism in recent years. Speaker Pelosi has trotted out her pair of Muslin women representatives as a way to portray liberals as diverse. But Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar have brought shame on the party with statements laced with bigotry and hatred toward people of the Jewish faith.
Until recently, political pundits saw Pelosi between a rock and a hard place with her upstart congresswomen breaking ranks and denouncing America’s strongest ally in the Middle East. But her welcoming of anti-Jewish hate speech appears to be the new normal for Democrats. In his call for violence against Israelis masked as a “prayer,” imam Omar Suleiman had this to say.
“We pray for peace, not war. Love, not hate. Benevolence, not greed. Unity, not division. And, we commit ourselves to not betraying our prayers with actions that contradict them,” Suleiman said before the U.S. House.
What slipped past many listeners is that Suleiman used code to point insiders to the destruction of the Jewish State. His so-called “actions” are easily traceable to his hate-laced social media posts and support of the Muslim Brotherhood. For example, when Hamas attacked Israel in 2014, Suleiman penned prayers consistent with rogue regimes such as Iran and ISIS insurgents.
“God willing on this blessed night as the 3rd Intifada begins, the beginning of the end of Zionism is here. May Allah help us overcome this monster, protect the innocent of the world, and accept the murdered as martyrs,” Suleiman stated.
The “3rd Intifada” is the equivalent of jihad against Israel. And when Palestinians inflicted violence on Jewish settlers, Pelosi’s pet imam was quick to liken Israelis to the very Nazis that brought the Holocaust on their people.
”Want to know what it’s (sic) like to live under Nazis? Look no further than how the Palestinians are treated daily by apartheid Israel.
Sickening,” Suleiman said. The imam also added a familiar anti-Israel hashtag to the post known as BDS, “Boycott, Divest, Sanction.”
Since hosting an imam with a dark history of anti-Semitism to Congress, Speaker Pelosi has feigned ignorance. Her office has reportedly declined to address the issue head-on, and appears to be diverting blame to the Texas Congresswoman who made the initial offer, Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson. House Republicans are furious over the disgraceful act of allowing the moral equivalent of a terrorist to speak in Congress.
“On Thursday the noon prayer was given by an Imam from Texas who has a long history of, not just supporting BDS, but comparing Israel to the Nazis,” New York Rep. Lee Zeldin said. “Accusing Israel of being a terror regime. Calling for a Palestinian Intifada… and inciting violence, supporting the Muslim Brotherhood … I think it is outrageous that Speaker Pelosi… chose that radical Imam to be speaking before Congress.”
Rep. Zeldin astutely pointed out that Pelosi is ultimately responsible for vetting those who gain access to that platform in the U.S. House.
“I was caught off guard by it quite honestly. There was no announcement it was going to happen. The Speaker either… failed to vet the Imam, or, worse, they did vet the Imam and thought it was a good idea to bring him anyway,” Rep. Zeldin added. “A bad call either way.”
Given her recent refusals to denounce anti-Semitic remarks from her own rank-and-file, it appears the Democratic leadership is continuing the policy of abandoning Israel that began during the Obama Administration. Democrats such a Pelosi appear incensed that President Donald Trump has emerged as, perhaps, the strongest supporter of Israel to occupy the White House since the Jewish nation’s formation. The president overruled objections to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, and put unwavering support behind Israel as citizens came under attack in recent months from more than 700 Hamas rocket attacks.
Despite Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer being Jewish himself, he has been ominously quiet as Pelosi allows the potentially desensitizing hate speech to go unchecked. Despite Pelosi’s office pretending ignorance, an unmistakable anti-Jewish trend has emerged among radical liberal Democrats.
